QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ABOUT A VISIT

Can I bring my dog to the Treetop Walk?

Dogs* or any other kind of pets are unfortunately not allowed on the trail.

Apart from the hygiene aspect, the safety aspect (for animal and human) has a major role to play in the prohibition of animals on the trail. While most responsible owners keep a close eye on their animals, sometimes dogs may show unexpected social behaviour towards strangers as well as towards other dogs. Furthermore, fear of heights in dogs can lead to flight behaviour.

*Exception: disabled assistance dogs and care assistance dogs.

Is the trail accessible on inline skates or bicycles?

Sorry, for safety reasons it is not possible to use inline skates, skateboards, city scooters, bicycles or any other form of transport on the trail.

Can I take a picnic with me on the Treetop Walk?

Of course, you are allowed to bring your very own food and drinks. But please keep in mind: Everything you bring must be taken back. For the sake of the environment, please do not throw any waste off the trail and always leave it as you would expect to find it. You will find trash cans in several places around the trail.

Is smoking permitted on the Treetop Walk?

Smoking is strictly prohibited on the Treetop Walk. This might seem weird at first for an open-air outdoor activity, but please be aware of the following. You are staying in a strictly protected area. Thoughtlessly tossed cigarette butts are unwanted co-inhabitants here, which not only persist (2-7 years), but which may even start forest fires.

Is it allowed to fly with a drone around the Treetop Walk?

Anyone is free to take photographs and film on the Treetop Walk for private purposes. Flyovers and recordings with drones, however, are prohibited. Alongside environmental protection (noise from larger drones, disturbance of strictly protected animal habitats during take-off, landing and drone flights), protecting our visitors from unauthorised recordings also plays a role in the ban.

A shooting permission is always required for commercial photo and film shoots taken at the Treetop Walk. More information on this can be found in our press area.

Is there a changing room for babies?

A nappy-changing mat is available in the toilet facilities at Cloef Atrium.

Is it permitted for children to go on the trail alone?

Children under the age of 14 need an adult supervisor.

For children, we offer the Comic Rallye across the Treetop Walk. The comic boards with statements about nature and the countryside, specially installed for our younger guests, explain biodiversity topics in a playful manner.

The comic booklet, which can be purchased at the ticket office, is an accompanying booklet for the Treetop Walk. It raises questions that can be answered by reading and looking at the panels on the trail.

The path and tower do not have any steps, so you can even take baby carriages up the 40-metre-high lookout tower with you. We have a family rate for families.

How long does it take to visit Treetop Walk Saarschleife?

The trail has a total length of 1,250 metres. Walk along the path, discover new things and enjoy the unique view when you reach the lookout tower. Please calculate between 1 and 2 hours for your visit.

May I visit the Treetop Walk even during bad weather?

Yes, visitors are welcome to walk the trail in the rain. In case of snowfall, the trail is cleared and can be also entered.

We only reserve the right to close the trail for safety reasons in the event of thunderstorms, hail, storms and ice. In any kind of weather, the forest offers an individual and unique atmosphere.
